Animal Welfare
A Longer, Better Life
Nature is beautiful, and it is also brutal. Every animal ambassador at The Capybara Cafe lives a documented, cared-for life, often years longer than the same species survives in the wild, because predators, starvation, and disease are the leading causes of death in nature, not old age. Below are the real, sourced lifespan figures for the species you may meet here. We will keep adding to this list as we verify each one, rather than publish a number we have not confirmed.

Why the Gap Exists
It is not that captivity is "better" than nature in some abstract sense, wild animals belong in the wild. It is that an animal ambassador in professional care has something a wild animal never gets: guaranteed food every day, a veterinarian who knows their history, a habitat built around their specific needs, and no predators. Those are the exact things that cut wild lifespans short.
